I've actually been thinking a lot about that lately. Still so, so painful.

It was all right there for us. Best team in school history playing an average MSU team with half their pitching staff out on our home turf. But of course, we blew it because we can't catch a fucking pop fly. Classic Southern Miss. Pissed away the little credibility our program had in about 7 hours. TTT.

the 2nd game was bad but the first was the worst. we had the most potent run producing team in the History of USM baseball and we get beat 8-1 by some kid who had pitched about 40 innings all year. and he pitched a complete game too.

Yep. Jacob Billingsley. Dude absolutely owned us. Was mediocre for most of the year but pitched the game of his life against us.

Most of our fans are too stupid to grasp the magnitude of the collapse. We talked SO much shit in the week leading up to the regional and looked like a bunch of ediots. Again, the best team in school history lost twice in 7-8 hours to an average State team in Hattiesburg. The fans though just blame it on the umps. So dumb. Catch the pop ups and we're playing LSU in front of a national TV audience.

We'll have a chance to sorta exorcise the demons opening weekend. But even if we win the series, it still won't come close to taking away the pain of what happened in that regional.

I think it's all over now for USM baseball. same shit happened after we went 10-2 in football. and then finally got to the ncaa's in basketball. after both of those great seasons everything collapsed. and I think from looking at the crappy recruiting and losing so many players from that team the same is about to happen to baseball. I think we will look back at all of this and wish we had fired berry years ago and got a real coach in here who knew how to get to regionals each year and win them, and then be set up to have a shot at CWS's.

And FWIW, Berry isn't "loyal".... the fact is no school is gonna hire him.

He's a lot like Bower. Good enough to have a winning season every year but he's never going take our program to the next level. He's extremely safe right now. Our fans are mostly happy with losing to State in our home regional because those goshdarn umps took it from us.
